- Evaluate the sustainability and yield of accessible groundwater resources.
- Identify any groundwater quality concerns including salinity, chemical contamination, or geogenic parameters.
Methodology
The study involved the installation and sampling of monitoring wells across the Qiddiya site. Water samples were analyzed for a comprehensive suite of physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters in accredited laboratories. Hydrogeological mapping was conducted to understand aquifer characteristics. Results were benchmarked against Saudi and international water quality standards.
Deliverables
- Groundwater quality assessment report with laboratory analysis results.
- Hydrogeological characterization of the site.
- Water resource suitability assessment for different end uses.
- Recommendations for groundwater management and monitoring program.
Significance & Impact
As a landmark entertainment destination, Qiddiya’s sustainability credentials require careful management of all available water resources. This groundwater study provided critical data to inform water sourcing strategies, supporting Qiddiya’s ambition to be an environmentally responsible development within the arid Saudi landscape.
